Meet Amanda Smith, Lactation Consultant
For over ten years, I've had an interest in infant feeding. I continued to develop this as a children's nurse working on NICU with special care babies and as a trained breastfeeding peer supporter in a volunteer capacity.
I went on to become an IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant), and as such I have membership with LCGB and ILCA. Whilst studying for my Qualification in Specialty as a NICU nurse, I simultaneously completed my training as a Tongue Tie Practitioner to be able to provide tongue function assessment, frenulotomy for ankyloglossia (tongue tie), and feeding support around this procedure. I am registered with the Nursing & Midwifery Council and Association of Tongue Tie Practitioners. My indemnity insurance is via my Practice Privilege with Private Midwives (TTP02).
My goals in practice are helping you to achieve yours in feeding your baby. As a NICU nurse, I've learned that success looks different for every family. As an IBCLC and tongue tie practitioner, I am here to explore all options and provide support from common breastfeeding issues through to the complex cases.
