Where can I find free breastfeeding peer support?
Our free drop-in group facilitated by IBCLCs and trained peer supporters is now available. This runs alongside our lactation consultancy/frenulotomy clinic in The Studio at the Broad Street Practice in Stamford on Wednesday afternoons from 1pm. You are welcome to get in touch for further information, or join our Facebook group.
In addition, the National Breastfeeding Helpline on 0300 100 0212 offers support 09:30-21:30. Volunteers are all trained by the Association of Breastfeeding Mothers or The Breastfeeding Network.
La Leche League and the National Childbirth Trust are also breastfeeding peer support resources.
In the Lincolnshire area, the County Council provide some groups, and Peterborough has Baby Cafes available and a LLL group where meets are arranged. If you're nearer Oakham, there is Breastfeeding Support Rutland.
Where can I find out about IBCLCs?
You can verify an IBCLC's registration by looking at the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners. Some IBCLCs are registered with the International Lactation Consultant Association, and you can find out more about IBCLCs and search for one there. Finally, many IBCLCs in this country are members of Lactation Consultants of Great Britain, and you can search for them there and learn more about IBCLCs.
